REFEREES NEEDED

Quality referees, 12 years of age and older, are always needed

To qualify as a licensed referee you must attend a Referee Clinic, which is typically a one or two day course that is offered during the winter or early spring months.

All licensed referees must attend a recertifiation course each year to maintain their status. These clinics are also scheduled during the winter or early spring months.

If you would like additional information, or would like to referee for the Shakopee Soccer Association, please contact our Referee Director.

How to Ref in Shakopee

 Welcome Referees!

If you would like referee jobs in Shakopee, here’s how you do it.
(If you’re already registered with RefCoord in another club, start with Step 2.)

In Shakopee, we use web-based program called RefCoord.com to assign games. You assign yourself to games, via the internet, based on your comfort level and availability.

Step 1– YOU must sign up as a referee. It’s easy.
1.  Go to www.refcoord.com and complete the 6 easy steps.
2.  After step 6, you will be prompted to request acceptance to
a club – chose Shakopee Soccer Association.

Step 2 – I will then get an automatic email to accept you. I need to tell the system what games you can ref, so …
1.  YOU need to send me a separate email at

a. what year were you first certified as a referee
b. what is your referee “grade” level (9, 8, 7 …)
c.  your comfort level – what’s the highest age you’d
like to ref, that you’re eligible for

Step 3 – After I have entered your eligibility data, you will be able to assign yourself to games once they’re available. Please do Steps 1 & 2 as soon as possible, as it will take me some time to complete eligibility information for all of you.
  • At the beginning of the season I will email all referees with the date/time that games will become available. On the given date, you can go to the web and start picking your games. Don’t wait! Verify your email address on RefCoord is correct.
  • Referees are expected to arrive 30 minutes prior to game time. Do not sign up for games that you cannot get to on time.
  • Referees must be dressed appropriately. Ref shirt & badge, black shorts, black socks, black shoes. Shirt must be tucked in.
  • You may schedule yourself for double headers. Fields 1-7 are all at the same Soccer Complex. Field 8 is not.
  • If you need to “un-schedule” yourself from a game, you’ll need to email me. Please do this as soon as you know you cannot work a game you’re scheduled for.
  • You’ll need to attend our “REFEREE PRE-SEASON FIELD TRAINING/MEETING” in April 2011 (exact date TBD)
