This is a reminder that there are no games on September 4th, 6th, or 7th.  We have included the 7th so as to balance the schedule for all teams.  Have a wonderful holiday!

BEGINNING MONDAY AUGUST 23rd or TUESDAY AUGUST 24th ALL SESSIONS ARE GAMES!  THERE ARE NO MORE PRACTICES.

The varsity soccer team has asked the U7-U12 teams to volunteer as ball boys/girls at the varsity soccer games this season.  If you are interested in particiapting you can check the Rec Documents section for the date/time where your team is scheduled to participate.  Instructions on how to participate are included on the schedule!

Rosters for Fall Rec. Soccer are now available in the Rec. Documents Section (linked in the left hand menu on this page).  Your child's name will appear in the roster with his or her first initial and last name.

Fall recreational soccer registration is now closed.

Teams and practice/game times are assigned randomly based on the number of registrations.

This program is designed to teach individual and team skills and competitive play. Games/Practice will be held at the following times from August 9th through September 25th:

U5/U6 (Coed Teams): Mondays (6:30-7:30pm) & Saturdays (9:00-10:00am).  The first three sessions will be practices and the fourth session will be Opening Ceremonies at 10:00am.  All remaining sessions are games.

U7-U12 (Boys & Girls Separate Teams): Tuesdays (5:30-6:30 or 6:30-7:30) & Saturdays (start times between 10-12).  The first three sessions will be practices and the fourth session will be Opening Ceremonies at 11:00am. All remaining sessions are games.  A tournament will be played on the morning of Sept. 25th.

NO GAMES WILL BE SCHEDULED LABOR DAY WEEKEND (SEPTEMBER 4th, 6th, and 7th).

* Due to the large number of participants who register for our recreational program, we are unable to honor special requests for practice/game times or place your child on a team with a specific friend/coach. We appreciate your understanding.

*See below regarding the weather cancellation policy.  Canceled practices/games will not be rescheduled due to lack of field availability.

Rec Club Objectives

Develop soccer players at an early age. Teach basic skills of soccer. Have fun.

Age groups

For the Rec league we use the standard Minnesota Youth Soccer Association (MYSA) group age guidelines. The groups are called U6, U7, U8, U9, U10, etc. where U means equal to or under that age as of July 31. The MYSA soccer year runs from Aug 1 to July 31. Example: if your daughter is 9 years old when the Rec season starts in Aug but will be 10 before July 31 of the following summer she is a U10 player. Who is the Rec league for?

Spring Rec is available for boys and girls ages 5 to 10.
Fall Rec is available for boys and girls ages 5 to 12.

Equipment

The players need a water bottle, ball (size 4), shirt for practice, shorts (black preferably), shin guards, socks that cover the shin guards, and shoes. Shoes can be tennis shoes or soccer cleats. We will hand out the SSA soccer shirts at the first practice; please have your child wear them to games.

Location

All games and training are at the 17th avenue soccer complex.

Weather Cancellation Policy

The SSA club will make a call on whether to play the games or cancel due to bad weather by 4:00 PM of the day of play or early Saturday morning for Saturday games. Check the home page of SSA web site and look for the status – as shown by a picture. If the practices/games are on, the picture will be sunny. If the practices/games are cancelled due to weather it will have a cloud and lightening bolt.
